OUR CLASSES

ISTD Imperial Classical Ballet
Ballet is the foundation for all dance. The students begin at Pre-Primary and work towards Advanced levels.
We follow the Imperial Society of Teachers in Dancing (ISTD) syllabus for our ballet classes and students participating in this genre have the opportunity to take formal examinations should they wish to. The lessons are delivered with a fun approach for students to learn technique, musicality, performance and core strength, not only at the ballet barre, but in the centre practises too.
We have a very high standard of examination results and strive to achieve excellent marks across the board.
ISTD Modern
Modern Theatre Dance is fun, energetic and a dance style that combines turns, travelling steps, high kicks and leaps, helping to develop flexibility and strength. Modern is a rhythmic dance style known for its theatrical qualities and energy.
We follow the ISTD syllabus and examinations can be achieved if students wish. The students working at grade 4 and above also achieve UCAS points upon completion of an examination in any genre which can count towards university degree applications.
We offer all grades from Primary through to Advanced levels.

ISTD Tap
Tap Dance is an exciting, percussive, rhythmical dance form. The students learn to create different rhythms by using their feet as the instrument. The metal plates on the toe and heel of their shoes help to give the distinctive sound.
The students can begin tap at 4 years right through to adults. Our adult classes are great for exercise, as well as coordination and rhythm. We follow the ISTD syllabus across the board and students can take examinations from Primary to Advanced levels.
Tap dance is a theatrical art form often seen on screen and stage in musicals.
Street Dance
Street dance is one of today’s most fashionable dance styles, made famous by pop and hip hop artists around the world. It is up to date, energetic and great fun, using the newest music around.
Our weekly street dance classes balances learning new moves with boosting confidence and self-esteem.
Classes are structured to include choreography and technique as well as plenty of opportunities for students to create their own moves and let their creativity flourish.
Styles of street dance at TPSODANCE include: Hip Hop, Breaking, Locking, Popping, Krumping, Commercial, Jazz Funk and Lyrical Hip-Hop.

Contemporary
Contemporary Dance is all about expressing emotion through organic movements and unrestricted lines. Incorporating elements of lyrical jazz, ballet and modern dance, contemporary is an exciting fusion which allows students to work through powerful and emotional routines.
Our contemporary classes develop fundamental skills, including balance, poise and graceful movement. The students learn to create pieces that narrate a story and we push our dancers to express themselves through movement.
Performing Arts
Musical Theatre is a fantastic class for those who just love to perform! With Dance, Singing and Acting all combined, in this class, students study a variety of songs from different musicals and learn to combine singing with movement.
Students learn how to work as an ensemble; regularly learning harmony parts and following musical direction to work as a team. They also get the opportunity to work as soloists within a group.
The students also focus on improvisation, public speaking, poems, monologues, plays and team building.

Building confidence is our main goal, and of course, fun!
